What is Matter?
Matter is a new open-source protocol that lets smart home devices—like lights, plugs, thermostats, and locks—connect across brands and work with platforms like Apple, Google, Alexa, and Samsung.
What is Thread?
Thread is a low-power mesh network used by Matter devices alongside Wi-Fi and Ethernet. It enables fast, local control and extended range by letting devices relay signals—working seamlessly across brands for true smart home interoperability.
What does “Matter-over-Thread required” mean?
To pair a smart device with Matter, your smart home platform (Apple, Alexa, Google, SmartThings) needs both a Matter controller and Thread Border Router. Many newer devices include both or can be updated—check with your platform to confirm.
Do Matter-compatible locks need extra hardware or hubs?
Beyond the required smart home hub controller, the answer is generally no. It’s best to check with your device manufacturer for specific hub or hardware requirements.

Almost perfect
I love this smart lock.. is almost perfect but is not for everybody here is why….What makes this smart locks way way different from the others here is why1- almost nobody will notice that this is an smart lock….2-works with Apple HomeKit, Alexa and google home ….3-you can unlock this lock with so many different ways…. App, schedule, automation with the key, apple home key,NFC tag that comes with the lock a the best part and what makes in my opinion this smart lock different from the others is that you can touch to lock and unlock that is amazing…..4- so easy to install. But have on mind that if you are installing this lock in a not existing doorknob you will need to make a new hole ….5- is Matter over thread technology that makes it more solid and reliable connection to the internet…. An Apple home hub, Alexa smart speaker or google home hub is required…..6- for an extra cost you can add an separate keypad… but in the future I will likeTo see the the finger print integrated on the keypad will be amazing….Now, why may be not for everybody…. Here is why….1- is not cheap is very price it, this smart lock cost $329.00 the version that is Matter over Thread compatible2 – the touch to lock and unlock feature has a 3 minutes time limited so that means that you will have 3 minutes to unlock this lock using the touch to unlock function……and can’t be programmed for more adicional time in my opinion at least 5 or 7 minutes is necessary…specially if you need to pick up your mail at the mail box when you’re arriving at home and the mail box is located half block away from your home….3- hopefully that soon they will update date this feature so can be programmed for more adicional time for the touch to unlock feature…..For the closing arguments….. I highly recommend this smart lock if you can purchase one ….hopes this helps

Upgrade your Safety!
The Level Lock+ Smart Lock is really easy to install and to use. It has a sleek designed app and product. It’s small and heavy which means that it’s very durable. I feel more secure with having it and I have peace of mind. The battery lasts a long time and the fingerprint recognition is quick and seamless. I am really glad I upgraded and feel much more secure.

High quality, beautiful looks, but installation can be difficult
I just installed two of these yesterday. The parts are well built and high quality as far as I can tell. The lock looks really nice. And the software goes to extra lengths to make the Level app setup exceedingly easy. The app even provides a wizard to add the lock to Apple Home! I did run into a couple of installation issues.First, the bolt on this lock is a fat round shape that did not fit the existing hole in the wall for my prior deadbolt, In addition the strike plate and bolt plate are quite thick – much thicker than I’ve typically seen on most doors. This required me to get out some wood chisels to re-form both the door and the wall to fit the deadbolt, digging both deeper and expanding the bolt hole. I’m not very good with a chisel, so this took quite a while, and didn’t turn out great. When the door handle is opened, the deadbolt and hence the door rattles back and forth. So unless you are pretty handy with a chisel or maybe a better tool for such an application, I would advise hiring a professional to do the installation.Next there was some kind of software glitch that prevented me from adding this lock to Apple Home. I was able to perform this without a hitch on the first lock. But the second lock stubbornly refused to integrate with Apple Home. I opened a support ticket and got a quick and fairly helpful response. But still no dice. Finally on a whim, I decided to cycle power on my phone and try it again. This did the trick, and I have a feeling the issue was with Apple Home, not the Level app, but I can’t be sure.The everyday use of these locks is still TBD for me. But given the high quality of the Level App and the hardware, I’m optimistic.

Integration doesn’t work
The lock quality is great and it looks nice! It is also easy to install. That said, the Bluetooth, WiFi, and HomeKit integration are so terrible that there was an error every time I tried to connect the lock. I got a few to redo my whole house, but after the first one not able to work remotely, I decided to return all of them. Very risky if you are planning on remote access being 100% – you will lock yourself out. Not sure if I got a dud, but I do not want to be locked out!

Easy install and set up
This is a really sleek product. It feels high end and well built. It was extremely easy to install which is great because I am not handy. User experience on the app feels almost too simple but after learning everything it’s a solid experience. It works great and helps me leave the keys behind and leaves one less thing for me to remember. The app is great and helps me keep track of everything. Easily connects to Apple HomeKit for easy set up.
