Great Except Not supported by Alexa
doorbell works great great quality 10 minutes set up. My only thing that I complain about is that this doorbell is not compatible with Alexa because Alexa looks at Google nest app and this doorbell you set up on the Google Home app so Alexa does not support this generation 3 wired doorbell and since Google and Amazon are competitors, there’s no plan on fixing this in the future… would’ve been cool to have Alexa announced somebody at my front door, but I guess Google wants you to buy their stuff… another thing low light in color is a scam. It stays in color for about 20 minutes before it goes in black-and-white…

    Great Camera Doorbell
The Google Nest Doorbell (3rd Gen) is a top-tier wired doorbell that delivers 2K HDR video, smart detection, and flawless Google Home integration. It captures crystal-clear footage day and night, with a 166° field of view that covers both faces and packages. Motion detection is highly accurate, distinguishing between people, vehicles, and deliveries while minimizing false alerts. The wired power ensures consistent performance with no need for battery swaps, and installation is quick if wiring meets requirements.Through the Google Home app, users can view live video, review recordings, and enjoy smooth connectivity with other Nest and Chromecast devices. Its sleek, minimalist design adds a modern touch to any entryway — combining security, style, and reliability in one impressive package.

Excellent FOV, easy to setup, nice app
Easy to set up following the google homeapp (even with electrical experience it is straightforward) and works perfectly with my transformer that powers my chime and measures at 18-20V 10VA. The angled plate works well to hide wires and the wire adapters. If not using the angled plate, you have to ensure you can hide the wires in the wall or else it won’t sit flush. Setup ran perfectly after I connected everything. Depending on your wifi connection you may get delayed notifications, but the event history is always available anyway. Without a subscription you get to see the first 10 seconds of every video event. High quality video, good frame rate, super excellent FOV. Pretty awesome overall, 5/5 stars.

    Thrilled About This Upgrade!
I’m thrilled about this upgrade. For reference, I’m coming from the battery version. Sure, setting up the battery version was super easy (this is too, but I’m not great at wiring), but the app lag time was awful and I hated having to unmount it and charge it for hours every month. Also, with the battery version, the video quality was dicey and the field of view was just “okay.” The gen 3 expanded field of view is such a great improvement, and I don’t need to switch on night vision because it “sees” just fine without it. The portrait photos are from the battery version, and the square photos are from the Gen 3 doorbell.

Very happy with it. Don’t enable Gemini though
Upgraded from a nest battery doorbell, very happy with it. Photos attached are nest gen 3 wired compared to the battery version, doesn’t even really compare. The fisheye coverage is also way better. Gemini “features” are dumb though, don’t feed the AI of one of the most rich companies on earth the data of your loved ones. Not worth the cost of seeing a little descriptor of any given event (how could an AI describe an event without harvesting data from said event? hint: they can’t, it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. don’t enable it.) Anyways the before and after photos are at night and day with the night photo being the battery doorbell. I wish wiring up the battery doorbell would allow for continuous recording, but it doesn’t, so I upgraded to the wired gen 3. Chime install was super easy. Verify that your doorbell has the correct voltage AC (anything around 20VAC will be good). Make sure you caulk around whatever you install the doorbell on. I installed it on a 90 degree angle mount because my doorbell wiring is 90 degrees from my door.

  6. Amazon Customer

    Challenging installation
I replaced a 1st generation wired version with this 3rd generation and it is quite an improvement in resolution and coverage. However, the installation was not as easy as the 1st generation. They provide separate wires to “avoid shorts” but call for 1/2″ of wire to be stripped before plugging into a locking wire connector. When I tried this only about 1/4″ of wire would go into the connector, leaving exposed wire you need to cram into the hole in the wall. If not, there is no way to get the doorbell to catch the mounting plate. So I cut off the connector and soldered the wire and taped it so it fit into the wall hole. Even then, the tolerances are so tight it was not easy to get the top mounting screw to catch. So just be patient and maybe use the rubber spacers even if you don’t need them to make installation easier.

Successfully Installed and Working in UK
Seeing as Google haven’t released a wired doorbell here in the UK since the Nest Hello, I ordered mine from Amazon U.S. using the priority delivery option. Arrived within 3 days via UPS. Superb.Install was straightforward. Didn’t have any need to keep my original chime (happy with just the Visitor Announcements on my Google Home speaker) so I have mine wired directly to a transformer that sits within a neat little enclosure box on the wall in place of my original chime box.Quality of the new 2K doorbell is great. The 160 degrees lens gives a much better coverage of my front path than the old battery version. Night vision is much better too. Notifications are nice and quick to come through to my phone and Google Home speakers (only about a 2 second delay).
