Only 2 sets of holes front and back on the sides
This drive does not include three sets of side-mounting holes. It features only two sets, positioned near the front and rear of the drive. As a result, it is not compatible with enclosures or trays that require a center mounting point (e.g., Ubiquiti Unifi trays).

Great for Unifi UDM Pro Protect Storage.
I bought this to use in my Unifi UDM Pro for Protect video storage. It works great, doesn’t run too hot, responds well and has had no issues in the months that I’ve used it.

Your mileage may vary… but on arrival, everything looks great!
Packaged perfectly, exactly as HDDs should be. (left gently at door by caring Amazon driver).Looks like you can get overnight on 1, but I ordered 7 so it took a bit longer.I fed them to my brand new UNAS-Pro, and they all spun up, initialized, and reported their information…0 hours, 0 bad sectors… and they show up as ST12000VX0017-2GV116The “VX” in the model refers to Skyhawk surveillance drives, but these are sometimes sold as Skyhawk AI drives, which carry a “VE” in the model number. Standard IronWolf NAS drives are “VN” models. I couldn’t find a 12TB ordinary Skyhawk on Seagate’s website, but 1 million hours MTBF is in line with the ordinary Skyhawk, whereas it would’ve been 2.5 million for the AI version.I entered the 7 serial numbers to Seagate’s support and the CN02 firmware on each of them is up to date. OEM Warranty info was not available. My noise expectations were tempered by the fact that this is for a NAS application, and the dual Xeon server with 10 drives was MUCH louder and hotter than this setup could ever be.It’s going to take a while for them to “burn in” in their new home… I’ll be running tests and poking around some more later. I don’t expect my rating to change at all, though… because with a 5 year warranty from a reliable supplier, and redundancy, if they make it through a month of testing, I bet I’ll never use the warranty.

    You Can’t go wrong
I’ve done hevy testing on this but first check for hidden sectors there was none, also added much of my old 8TB to the new 12TB-(10TB Actual Size) with no errors lags of any kind. It is a great deal. Highly Recommend. Why did you pick this product vs others?:Much cheaper and 5 Yr Warranty Drive quality:checked for hidden sectors there was none, also added much of my old 8TB to the new 12TB-(10TB Actual Size) with no errors lags of any kindNoise level:NoneQuality:Supper Compatibility:perfect for me with windows 11 using my ProboxSpeed:Holding a transfer straight in w/USB 3.0 was 174MB Ease of installation:Windows let me format it as GPT. What a breeze .

looks new, renewed as 0 hours, recorded 38000+ hours, precleared and tested fine.
this recent third one looks new, renewed as 0 hours, recorded 38000+ hours. Yup, that’s a lot (the first two seemed similar but recorded 16Khrs). But I paid a little more to get 5yr warranty, and it’s used in an array. So no big deal to me, it precleared and tested fine.Note the body and label 8char serial#, does not match the firmware serial#, so you’ll want to write them down maybe.EDIT NOTES: cyan NAS label with part# ST120x and 5yr wty qty3.

    New and fast but loud!
Bought two of these 12TB models for my Synology NAS. They were new, no marks or fingerprints inside of a static bag. The NAS identified them as new Seagate st12000nm0127 enterprise drives and smart marked them as healthy. The actual space usable is like 10.9 TB (normal due to conversion from 12TB). They are way cheaper than competitors and work just as well. I was afraid I was going to get a renewed model as some other products had said but no this drive is brand new. Once in my Synology 224+ they were recognized right away and I did have a warning about the drives not being on their compatibility list but that is just a scam to get the manufacturers to pay Synology. The drive is rather loud though. It sounds like popcorn being popped in a muffled tin. It’s not extremely loud but louder than the clicking I remember mechanical drives making years ago. But then again those were a fraction of the size that these are. I’ll report back if I have any issues.Edit: This edit is in response to a review that was bashing how the devices came. I bought two drives and they came in a large box, side by side with air filled plastic bubble things to fill up left over space. Then each drive comes in its own cardboard box. Inside each box the drives come in sealed (you have to tear them open like a bag of chips) anti-static bag. Then you have two plastic shock protectors on the ends of the drives. These keep the drives in place within their box and bag while allowing the drive to cushion any drops or bumps. It’s the same setup that every hard drive I have ever received in my life has had. And other than there being no retail markings on the box it’s completely safe. The drives were also both brand new as reported by the S.M.A.R.T. software on my Synology NAS. So unless that other review had physical box damage, while would be very noticeable, he must have just gotten a defective drive.

    Seller is difficult to contact
The drive was in physically good shape but indeed has had a lot of time in a server environment most likely. It initially mounted and would operate as expected but within weeks it began to unmount and have read and write issues. The support phone number listed in Amazon for the seller is disconnected, so please to be read for a struggle with warranty returns and replacements.

Refurbished NAS Drive that is good
This is a refurbished hard drive I am using for my NAS. It has worked flawlessly for me and I am comforted by the fact it has a very nice warranty in case anything happens. This was easy to install and get running in my NAS. It did come with the SATA power cable necessary for some systems which was nice. All-in-all a good drive.
