Good price. Very capable iron.
I’m writing this detailed review because I found the subject of researching, purchasing, and using under-performing irons so annoying and hoping this will help you avoid the same. This review applies to my personal application and experience. Both of those may differ for you.First some context for this review. I pretty much exclusively use the iron to iron my long sleeve dress shirts for work. I work fast and need an iron that can keep up with me (producing steam) as I iron, set the iron down, move the shirt to the next position, iron set the iron down etc. about 10 times per shirt. I set the iron to ‘Cotton” and get busy. I just need an iron that constantly produces plenty of steam. I don’t use the spray or vertical steam features. It takes me about 3 minutes per shirt – which is faster and cheaper than making trips to the cleaners. I have not had any of the irons long enough to provide a long-term or reliability review. If anything annoying occurs I will come back and edit this review if I am able.I purchased and tested each of these irons on the same shirts (pic)1) First purchase: Rowenta Focus $87Summary: this iron could not keep up with me. Seemed to produce steam randomly in short bursts when it felt like it. I often found myself ironing soleplate down without any steam at all. I thought the unit must be defective. I returned in exchange for another one. Same issue with the second one.I would return it if I could, but am outside the return window. I would not recommend this iron. Will be donating this to charity. Maybe it will suit someone else better. Will not bother with Pros & Cons here.2) Second purchase: Rowenta Steamforce $152Summary: upon opening, it was clear that this was a unit had already been ordered and returned by another customer. Based on past experience accepting somebody else’s return is a nonstarter – especially at this price point. This is not the first time Amazon has sent someone else’s reject as new. Very disappointing. I returned in exchange for another one. The second one arrived in new and unused condition – although I wish the manufacturer would seal the box at the factory so it is clear if the box has been previously opened.Pros:- Slick easy gliding soleplate- Plenty of steam- Simple light indicating fabric setting (pic)- Narrow nose for tight spaces- Simple on/off steam setting (I don’t need anything in between)Cons:- Price – yikes!- Easy to accidentally hit fabric selection dial and change setting. Frustrating.- A little bit of non-consequential spittingThis was the best of the three irons for my needs. Would recommend.3) Third purchase: PurSteam Professional Grade 1800-Watt Iron with Digital LCD Screen $42Summary: this one arrived in a box properly sealed by the manufacturer – easy to tell that I was the first person opening the box. Thank you!Pros:- Great price- Sufficient steam- LED fabric selector – No manual dial to knock out of position. Yay! Thank you! (pic)- Easy to fill water tankCons:- Literally ran out of steam when tank reached 25% full (pic)I would recommend this iron. Instead of returning, I will keep as a very capable backup.Hope this review saves you some of the time and grief I experienced. If anyone has recommendation for a top-notch ironing board cover, I’d be happy to hear about it.

Great Iron
This is my second time purchasing this Pure Steam iron from Amazon. The first one lasted us a long time, and we never had any major issues with it. After more than four years of daily use, it finally stopped working, and we definitely got our money’s worth. Because it worked so well, we bought the same one again. This iron heats up quickly and does a great job getting wrinkles out. I also appreciate the safety features, like the beeping sound if it is left unattended for too long, and the automatic shutoff after about an hour. It is heavy duty, durable, and glides smoothly on almost all materials. We have not had any problems with snagging. My only suggestion would be adding a retractable cord, but other than that, it is a great iron and worth buying.

Great Customer Service for a Great Iron *REVISED AND IMPROVED REVIEW*
I’m not even going to keep my first review up because really it just focused on the steam function, and I got a bad copy and was really bummed about it. Honestly – it happens… but PUR’s customer service swept in and saved the day. They sent me an email explaining where the faulty part must have been and they QUICKLY sent me a whole new Iron free of charge. So now I get to write the review I WANTED to write when I first got this Iron!PUR is the company that makes what are probably the most well-known upright steamers, you know, for things like curtains and Dresses and Suits. I think that’s why this is such a good iron for the price. And So – It’s definitely a light-to-medium weight iron. You can see I have two others I’m comparing it to today. An expensive ORECK and a popular Rowenta – those are both a little heavier, (before adding water of course. And they’re a LOT more expensive than the PUR).I find it well balanced and it holds plenty of water for steam. It doesn’t have the trendy bottle-nose tip, but honestly aside from some shirts and blouses, that slightly more narrow tip on the Rowenta doesn’t really make much difference on most common things you’d be ironing.HEAT: The PUR definitely has a higher top-heat than the others, so be careful. Now if you need to tackle a whole basket of cotton dinner napkins or a cotton canvas chair cover or canopy – this extra heat makes it a lot better.STEAM: The steam has 3 settings; off, low steam, and high steam. chosen by a common and simple thumb lever that’s in the perfect place to move without stopping your flow. The low steam is great for most everything requiring a typical amount of steam help. The high steam is great! It really creates a lot of steam. steam that penetrates really well too.And now the biggie – the upright steaming gem of the “Blast of steam button”. It just flat out wins. The forward puff of steam comes out more forcefully than the Rowenta and the Oreck and travels farther. I should put up videos showing them each. That Rowenta is only a month or two old too, so it would be a great comparison. The PUR iron so totally pushes the steam out harder and farther like it’s PUR big vertical brothers.I wear suits most days and this helps me get wrinkles out pretty much as well as a DEDICATED upright steamer. So that’s a SUPER useful tool. And of course it is exactly what you need for regular ironing too. It’s a great blast of steam, but its not too much that you’re suddenly in a scalding hot cloud or anything. Not at all. And the lever-button feels solid and comfortable under your thumb.Win.The SPRAY function is good too. A big easy to press lever-button and a pretty standard amount of water delivered just ahead of the iron without drips. My bad copy I got at first had steam malfunctions that also led to leaking water onto the work, But the replacement is absolutely fine. No leaking water anywhere at all really. Just like most of the other reviews here say.CORD LENGTH is a bit longer than both the Oreck and Rowenta so that’s another plus.WATER RESERVOIR is good sized and mostly clear so it’s easy to see how much you’ve got in there.Yes, it can empty out fast if you’re using a lot of steam, but that’s just how it goes when you get a lot of steam out of it.FACE PLATE is stainless steel like the Rowenta and most others. You have to clean it from time to time, but that’s just standard.I’ve tried the “ceramic” like the CHI and was pretty disappointed. Didn’t keep it.The Oreck has a masterful TEFLON face plate and almost NOTHING builds up on it, and I wish the PUR or others could have this, but the TEFLON face plates seem to be gone from the market, so maybe it has become a banned chemical thing. I get it…TEFLON is some pretty nasty stuff that you really don’t want in your body.Okay… YES, the temperature dial is STIFF.That’s really the only downside of this otherwise great iron. Lots of other people have pointed it out and they’re not wrong. The positioning and labeling of the dial is pretty standard, but yeah, it can be really hard to turn sometimes. And a little hard to read. If you have a weakness issue or arthritis in your hands or fingers this might not be the iron for you. This is why I pulled off 1-star away from 5-stars and give this great affordable iron a 4 out of 5 review. I wish I could give it 4 and a half stars. It was hard deciding though. Their customer service was AMAZEBALLS. Like good like I’ve never seen before on a product that wasn’t like a car or something. It was a new experience for me and it made me feel like this company intends to stay on top for the RIGHT reasons. Very cool. Thanks Dianne! So many winning attributes to this iron… I use it almost every day, but not for hours and hours or anything – its still home use. Just a busy home, and I occasionally do some word-of-mouth tailoring and alterations on the side. The balance, the longer cord, the great steam, and OH YEAH…it gets hot FAST! I really love that. And the fact that this great tool is as affordable as it is really makes me want to give it 5-stars but the stiff dial could really be a problem for folks with arthritis or some other hand weakness problem. But aside from that one issue I must say that I think this iron is -THE BEST IRON VALUE OUT THERE. * * * *I seriously may buy one or two more as backups at this price. I think that says everything.*AND it’s from a company that has been around and is still basically mostly AMERICAN. (Considering that everything is globalized to some extent nowadays.)But hey guys, don’t go raising the price just because its a great iron at a great price either! Let it be the one everybody has and you’ll stay the superstars.

Sleek iron , excellent choice
I do like this iron! The reviews were very good, so went with it. The iron is sleek, perfect steam output. I really like the ceramic sole plate, it glides effortlessly. Also, Perfect for delicate clothing. Clothing looks neatly pressed. Reminder: always iron delicate fabrics (synthetics) first!I like the self clean, anti calcium and anti drip, plus auto shut off is a must have. I have hard water so I use bottled distilled water in my iron. The cord is not retractable, always found those annoying anyway and eventually they fail to work.Excellent value and priced well!
