Best install for my curtains
I’m honestly blown away by how easy this was to set up. No tools, no drilling, no headache — I literally clipped it onto my existing rod, placed the magnets, connected it in the app, and it was running in minutes. If you want something effortless, this is it.The 2025 upgrade is definitely noticeable. The bigger guide wheel glides over small bumps in the rod with zero hesitation, and it handles my heavier curtains like a champ. The positioning magnets make everything feel more precise and smooth without that clunky “foreign object” look. The motor is strong. It opens and closes my thick blackout curtains with no struggle at all, and the precision is perfect — no weird light gaps or constant recalibration. My favorite feature? Silent Mode. It’s truly whisper-quiet. I can open my curtains in the morning without waking anyone, and at night I don’t hear a thing. If you’re sensitive to noise, this feature alone makes it worth it.I also love that it works with Matter and Apple HomeKit (with the Hub 2/3). Controlling it from my phone, Apple Watch, or HomePod feels seamless, and it integrates perfectly with the rest of my smart home setup.Overall, this is a fantastic upgrade for any room. Easy install, powerful motor, super quiet, and smart-home friendly. Absolutely worth the 5 stars!

Gamechanger
Switchbot 2025 Automatic Curtain Opener 3 with RemoteThe curtain opener is a gamechanger. I had no idea I was missing this in my life. It seems like such a small thing, but waking up to the light and not having to manually close up the house to leave is amazing. I have the curtains on a schedule to automatically open in the morning and close in the evening. If I leave the house sooner, I just tell Alexa to close the curtains. And my boyfriend, who can’t be bothered with all the “smart” stuff, just presses the remote button to open/close the curtains (no getting off the couch!). I was also able to set up “scenes”, which are groups of custom actions, so the curtains and blinds (sold separately) will all open/close at once. I do own the Hub 2.There are three modes. The power of Standard Mode moves the curtains quickly. There’s also a QuietDrift Mode that moves very slowly but isn’t audible at all, and finally Silent Mode, which is in between the two. I added a video of QuietDrift Mode to show how truly quiet they can be. I was worried since we have two curtains and a support bar in the middle of the rod that they wouldn’t close fully, but they do.Pros:-Easy setup: Instructions are easy to follow and it’s plug and play to connect to the app and Alexa (or your chosen smart system). Auto calibration automatically sets close and open points. The smart design slides right over the rod.-Multiple open methods: Schedule, remote, or voice (hub required); app; light sensing (solar panel required); or just manually start moving the curtains and they automatically take over.-Charging: A single charge is long lasting, but there’s also an optional solar panel (sold separately). The charging cable is generously long so I didn’t even take them down to charge (although you could just easily unclip it to charge).-Support: There are multiple ways to contact support inclduing email, app, and phone. They are easy to get in touch with and respond quickly. (I contacted them with questions on a different product.)-Trusted Company: Switchbot is well known and recieved in the smart automation space. The device feels well made and built to last.Things to Know:-Multiple Products: You do need the app, remote, hub (sold separately), and solar panel (sold separately) to fully take advantage of all the capabilities. However, you do not need those things for basic functionality. As long as you expect this, you can tailor your experience. I imagine there will be a package deal in the future like they have with their other products.

Surprisingly strong, quiet, and easy to use
I was skeptical at first about automating my curtains, but this device has turned out to be one of my favorite smart home upgrades. Installation was simple and didn’t require taking down the rod or using tools. The app walks you through setup step by step, and calibration was straightforward. The motor is strong enough to handle my heavier curtains without struggling. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is, especially in silent mode. I now have it scheduled to open in the morning so I wake up to natural light, and to close at night for privacy. The scheduling feature works reliably, and I can also control the curtains from my phone or with voice commands through Alexa once paired with the hub.The design hides nicely behind the curtain so it’s not noticeable, and the battery life has been solid. I have only needed to top it off once after weeks of use. I like that there’s an option to add a solar panel for charging, which I might do later.Overall this is a great way to bring a little convenience and comfort into daily life without having to invest in expensive custom motorized blinds. If you’re curious about smart curtains, this is a practical and affordable choice.

Didn’t Think I Needed This… Now I Love It
I wasn’t sure if this curtain opener was going to be worth upgrading from my current Curtain Rod 2, but after hooking it up with my SwitchBot Hub 2, I’m honestly impressed. Setup was quick—clipped it onto the rod, added the little magnets, and had it running in about five minutes. The motor is strong enough to handle my heavy blackout curtains without a problem, and it moves really smoothly. The QuietDrift mode is great—it barely makes a sound, so I can have the curtains open in the morning without waking anyone.I also added the solar panel, which keeps the battery topped up. Haven’t had to plug it in once since I set it up.With the Hub 2, I’ve got it tied into my routines so the curtains open when I wake up and close at night. It feels pretty fancy not having to touch them anymore.Only thing I’d say is make sure your curtain rod is the right size. Mine worked fine, but I could see that being an issue for some people.Overall, this has been one of those “didn’t realize how much of an upgrade this would be until I tried it” purchases. Super easy to set up, works reliably, and honestly makes daily life a little smoother.

Game Changer for My Curtains!I recently installed the SwitchBot Curtain 3 (Rod version), and I’m absolutely impressed! The setup was quick and straightforward — within minutes, my curtains were moving smoothly with just a tap on my phone. The device is sleek and blends seamlessly with my curtain rod, without looking bulky or out of place. The motor is quiet yet powerful, easily handling my heavy curtains. I love that I can schedule them to open in the morning and close at night automatically. The app works flawlessly, and integration with smart assistants makes it even more convenient. One of my favorite things is the smooth movement — it feels like a luxury upgrade without the huge cost of motorized curtain systems. If you’re looking for a smart home upgrade, this is worth every penny!

I’ve been using the SwitchBot Curtain 3 (Rod version) for a few weeks now and I’m really impressed. The installation was super easy, especially with the clear visual instructions in the app. Everything is well guided, step by step. What I really like is the Matter compatibility. In my case, I integrated it with Apple HomeKit, and it works flawlessly. The device responds quickly, and I’ve added it to several automations. I’ve set it to open automatically based on my sleep schedule, and I love the slow, quiet opening mode — it’s a great way to wake up gently with natural light. The 8-month battery life is already impressive for a motorized device, and with the optional solar panel, you can pretty much set it and forget it.The only thing I would mention is that, in setups like mine where curtains open from both sides of the window, it’s best to get two units — one for each side. It’s not a flaw in the product, just something to plan for depending on your curtain configuration. All in all, this is a smart, well-designed product that fits perfectly into my connected home. I highly recommend it.

I wasn’t sure if I really needed an automatic curtain opener, but after using it I can honestly say it has made my life so much easier. I love waking up to natural light without having to get out of bed to pull the curtains open. It’s smooth, quiet, and reliable. The setup was simple and once it was in place I didn’t have to think about it again. I’ve even set schedules so the curtains open in the morning and close at night which feels like a small luxury. It’s one of those gadgets I didn’t know I needed but now I can’t imagine going without.

It finally automated the morning wakeup routine. The sun now hits my eye balls as soon as sunrise happens allowing me to have a natural wake up without the need for caffeine and artificial sounds. The roller is dead quiet when it’s gliding across the curtain rod, leaving behind nothing but the ASMR sounds of silver curtain rings dragging on the surface of a powder coated steel pole. It really soothes the soul in the morning. The battery is basically eternal. It runs twice a day, opening the curtains for the sunrise and closing the curtains for sunset. Has half a year lifespan according to the documentation so time will tell. All in all, a nice addition to home automation, integrates with a hub, and home assistant which makes it work flawlessly with all routines

Very high quality product ; good packaging, good instructions, well-made extras widgets for different type of rod curtain attachment (you can see them in Switch-bot installation videos). The Curtain 3 device feels solid and sturdy. It is heavy, so, you may need to add a support in the middle of your rod if it is already caving down. I made a video with a 5 kg weight on an 8 feet rod and an eyelet that creates more friction than a normal curtain eyelet would. Also, note that a curtain’s weight is spread over many eyelets, not just one. I was surprise that the device could move the 5 kg without any issue (I didn’t expect that). The little magnet (discrete) provided is very good for high precision closing, I did some test without the magnets, and it worked but not as nicely, I’ll recommend installing the magnets.I have no doubts that these curtain openers will work on my heavy thermal insulated curtains at my winter cottage.Having 3 configurable speeds is really a plus for me, not too noisy at high speed and extremely quiet at the lowest speed.Note, that it doesn’t come with a power adapter to recharge the battery, not a real problem these days with all the electronic USB gadget we already have!
