The ultra-compact reminder of leaking water. This Tapo T300 water leak sensor is part of the Tapo ecosystem, it works with the Tapo IoT Smart Hub and protects your household all the time for you. When an anomaly is detected, there are alarms from both the sensor and the hub, you will also receive an instant in-app notification. In addition, you can also set up a smart action that connects sensors and other Tapo smart home products. If an anomaly is detected by the sensors, you can choose to point the camera at the location or turn on the light as an alarm.
【1-Second Rapid Detection and Response & Dual-Side Sensing】Featuring six highly sensitive sensor probes, Tapo T300 triggers its siren in as little as 1 second to alert users immediately and prevent worse water damage. Sensor probes on the top and bottom are designed to detect both drips and leaks.
【Instant App Notifications】Receive an instant app notification when a leak happens or the batteries run low. Find out even while away from home.
【90 dB Built-in Alarm】Alerts you immediately with its adjustable 90 dB alarm when leakage occurs. Press once to silence the alarm after you find the spot. It can also trigger the Hub alarm for additional audible alert coverage.
【3+ Year Battery Life】Two replaceable AAA batteries provide up to 3 years of battery life (Battery life of up to 3 years is based on TP-Link’s laboratory results. Actual battery life may vary depending on working conditions and environments).
【IP67 Waterproof】Tapo T300 meets the IP67 rating against water and dust and is able to withstand humid and dusty environments.

Inexpensive sensor that just works as it should. Customer service was fantastic.
Part of this review is about the device and the other is about the customer service I received. The guys that plumbed our house 30+ years ago used substandard materials and coupled that with shoddy work. We have had several leaks in various places in house causing thousands in water damage over the years. I have used the basic battery operated leak sensors and they work well enough but you have to be home for them to do any good so I have been searching for a way to detect leaks when we are away. I tried using a Zircon wifi leak sensor but it ate batteries like I eat cookies and it didn’t always alert me when the batteries needed to be changed, It was also much more expensive than these Tapo sensors. It sent alerts through email and you do not always see those for a while so after just a few months, I stopped feeding my unit batteries.I decided to give these Tapo sensors a try because the Tapo hub requires a very low power usage to stay connected and you can use their phone app to check the battery strength. I have had these for several months now and the batteries strength is still practically new. I have one behind every toilet, next to the water heater pan, washing machine, dishwasher and under each sink in the house (and I am going to order a few more because I just thought of a couple places that might benefit). I do test them occasionally either by simply putting a wet finger across the contacts or setting them on a wet surface just for piece of mind that they are still operating and they always trigger an alert on my mobile devices (iphone and Ipad). The leak notification pops up almost immediate on my phone. They also have a test button which allows you to just test that the device is working and communicating with the hub. Getting a leak notification when you are away is a game changer which I hope will help avert a disaster because you know that these things usually happen when you are on vacation. Now I can get my neighbor to run next door and turn off my water to minimize damage. I cannot believe how cheap they are.Except for one unit, the setup process for these through the app was about as easy as it can get. Within minutes, it was activated and sending alerts when I tested them. I disconnected my phone from WiFI to also test that I got alerts when away. Unfortunately one unit activated but had a “local only” error status meaning that it would not give me updates while away. The good news is that the app was smart enough to know that there was a problem and flagged it with a big red flag but alerts would trigger on my phone only when connected to WiFi. I contacted their customer service and the assigned tech seemed to take this problem personally and over a few days (not sure they had seen the error before) of doggedness got it working as it should. The dedication that CS tech Graham showed to solving this issue has given me the confidence to invest in other TP-Link smart home devices. I now have several others and the Tapo/Kasa and TP-Link ecosystem in my home continues to grow.I have tried several different smart home brands over the last 5 or 6 years and the this one gets my vote as the best envisioned so far. Note that I also use Alexa for some automatons and these devices work seamlessly with Alexa as well. My only complaint is that the automatons you can create in the Tapo app are still evolving but Alexa fills that void nicely for now and there has been nothing that I wanted to do that I could not. Also note that TP-Link has an excellent forum for asking questions. TP-Link is dedicated helping people utilize their technology by answering questions there but you also get other users providing input as well which greatly enhances the knowledge base.

Very easy to setup
About 2 weeks after I installed them we had a tiny leak under the bathroom sink. I would never have known about it without these sensors, it was inside the cabinet under then sink. They were very easy to setup on my mesh network. The app found all my old Kasa light switches and added them automatically, Now I have both set of devices on a quality app.I have had smart devices from TP-Link. They also make a good devices and apps that work well. Their software works well too. When testing them, the sensors sent a notification to my phone, so in addition to a loud alarm it will let me know even if I an not home.I had previously tried to setup the top rated Moen water sensors. I spent at least 3 hours on tech support calls with them. They even decided the first ones I had were all defective and sent me a new set. These also would not connect to my network. The reset button is poorly designed and hurt to press, and I had to press it a lot. This is much better and it seems to work. I feel much better prepared now. I had 2 water leaks at our previous house and they were very expensive to repair. This was easy and inexpensive.

Works fine
Detects the leaks, works with the app. Loud enough to hear.

Good Buy
I’ve been using the TP-Link Tapo Smart Water Leak Detector for a few months now, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a small device that packs a big punch when it comes to peace of mind.Setting it up was a breeze; I had it connected to my Wi-Fi in no time. Once it’s up and running, you can place it anywhere you suspect water might be a problem, like near hoses, sinks, or in the basement. The real magic happens with the notifications. If it detects even a little moisture, it sends an alert straight to my phone. That feature really gave me confidence, knowing I could catch potential leaks before they turn into major issues. What I appreciate most is how sensitive it is. I’ve tested it a few times, and it picked up even the smallest drops of water. Also, the battery life has been impressive; I haven’t had to replace it yet, which is a plus. And since it’s part of the Tapo ecosystem, it works perfectly with my other Tapo devices, so I can monitor everything easily through one app. Overall, if you’re looking to safeguard your home from water damage, this little detector is worth the investment. It’s reliable, efficient, and just makes life a bit easier!

Stable Device on a Great Platform
This is likely the best water leak detector out there. tp-link/Tapo offer great platforms at no cost and their accessory products are always good. This detector is no different, although it requires a $25 hub for wifi connect. It’s ok in my case because I use other Tapo hub devices. Tapo does say the hub greatly extends device battery life, so it’s worth something if that’s the case. Anyway, they connect quickly (I have 3) and test well. My only gripe is the high profile. I came from Phyn, which offered a hockey puck that could fit under things like a washing machine. But Tapo never disconnects like other brands do, and that’s worth a ton.

Great detection
Works very well, detected even a splash of water. Easy to setup. Didn’t realize there was tiny leak around base of faucet, first time washing dishes after installation during the rinse it went off. Notice 2 tiny drops of water on top. Would recommend!

Works and is easy to install
I’d prefer a PoE one but this is next best thing. I’m using it in a pump house that I’d run CAT5 to but had to install a WiFi access point for the controller since it’s WiFi only (no Ethernet). Also have the tplink temperature sensor and these both work fine.

The sensor itself is really useful and I have multiple T300 sensors. However this one was ordered from the US and it didn’t work with my H200 hub because of different wireless frequencies used in the US vs. rest of world. Had to return the item.

Easy to setup. Speaker is loud enough to hear it on our second floor (device is located in the basement for the sump pump). Phone alerts are quick/instantaneous for when it detects a leak. Has detectors on the bottom and top so you can use it to sense a flood or a leak from a pipe.

Pulled the protective tape from the batteries then pressed the button for 5 seconds – the unit communicated with the Hub and was ready to go. Very simple to set up and operate. You can test it by placing your finger across the probes to set off the alarm.

Had to order a hub in order for this to work but aside from that it seems to work!
