Accurate sensor
Compared this sensor’s readings to other sensors I have and it is right on par with the others. It was easy to add this to the SmartLife app. The sensor has a little button on the back under the flip out stand. This button is used to put the device in SmartLife pairing mode and also toggles the display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.I also tested the IR functionality by adding one of my wall mounted shop fans to it. My fan was not in the database so I had to manually learn the buttons from the existing remote. That went pretty smoothly. The IR function worked from about 30 feet away. I did have to point the sensor directly at the fan. If it wan’t pointed directly at the fan then the odds of it working went way down. There were also a couple of times when I hit the power button within the SmartLife app and nothing happened. I waited 5 seconds or so and hit it again and still nothing. Waited a few more seconds and tried it again and all of a sudden my fan turned on and off multiple times. It kind of seemed like the commands were not being sent to the fan and then all of a sudden all of the queued commands came through. There are a couple of design improvements that would be nice. The device is made to be standing on a flat surface. Using the flip out stand to do so means the device points slightly upward. If the device you want to control with IR is not above the sensor in the line of sight then it won’t work. The usb-c port for the sensor is on the backside of the sensor. This means the cord sticks straight out the back which makes it impossible to use double sided tape to stick it to a wall. Would be better if you had a way to wall mount this so that you could put it at the same height of the device you want to control.

Split Unit Automation
Automatically controls my Mitsubishi split A/C unit. Regulates temperature by switching modes in seasons where one day heat is required and the next cooling.

Not worth it
The WiFi signal is so weak it has to be basically next to the modem. And it has to stay plugged in or it won’t work.

ok
This is a nice controller. It has a lot of functions to it and appears to be fairly accurate thus far. The display is nice, while the device is a bit thick, though. I did have a bit of a headache getting it connected and set up. If you are good with tech, it shouldn’t be too difficult. I had never used anything like this before.

Easy connectivity
This gauge was very easy to connect to my Smart life app. I am now able to see the temperature and humidity out in my shed from my phone from anywhere. It is absolutely accurate as I compared it to others. Great connectivity.

Good wireless thermometer, remote control has severe limitations
This WiFi thermometer offers a practical combination of temperature and humidity measurement along with an IR remote control function. I have to admit, this is a non-obvious combination which took me by surprise at first. On the monitoring side, it performs well: readings are accurate, setup is quick and straightforward, and adding the device to the SmartLife app took just two taps. If you don’t have the app installed, it takes about 5 minutes and requires your email for verification. The value is solid for what you get, and the core thermometer/hygrometer functions are reliable. The IR remote control feature also works smoothly with older devices from major brands, such as my older Samsung TV, which was a nice bonus. However, the remote control function shows its limitations quickly. It only works in direct line of sight and is far less reliable with less popular brands or newer devices. For example, I was unable to get it to work with my Epson projector despite trying all ten of the built-in Epson codes. Similar story for my Yamaha audio amplifier. In fact, there doesn’t even seem to be an audio amplifier category – the existing audio category doesn’t seem to apply. This further narrows its usefulness. While it is possible to manually map buttons, the process is extremely tedious, and even then you cannot choose or adjust the layout of buttons in manual mode, which makes the experience clunky.Overall, as a thermometer and humidity sensor, this product does its job well. As an IR remote control, it’s best viewed as a convenient extra for older, mainstream devices rather than a universal solution. It’s a decent value if you primarily need the environmental readings and don’t mind limited remote functionality.
