Easy installation, easy setup, and BEAUTIFUL!
I am very satisfied with the performance of these 6-inch recessed lights. The installation was straightforward was completed without any trouble. Now, to be fair I have a bit of an electrical background so if you are not comfortable with adding to a home electrical circuit – or cutting holes in your ceiling – you’ll want to call in a professional.We have a lot of GOVEE products in our home and these did not disappoint either. The GOVEE Mobile app is very easy to use once you try it out for a few minutes. When you need regular ceiling lighting, you can select any color temperature (Warm-white to Daylight) and brightness level. Then when you want to spice things up – you can select from countless static colors and patterns. The added bonus of the color rings around the outside of the light brings added fun to the patterns as they can operate independently of the main light itself.GOVEE builds a solid product at an affordable price. I would certainly recommend this manufacturer.

Very happy with lights, easy to install and great control options
I am really happy with these, the installation was very easy and the instructions were clear. The connecting was easy enough and the preprogrammed setting options are numerous and tons of fun. Linking all four lights up in a group has been fun and seeing colored pictures dance to the lights is amusing. They are only dimmable on the phone because they use a 120/24V transformer. They come with a cutout template and there is a bit of give when cutting the hole for the light. The brightness and color range is great, I am renovating my basement and there is a work setting where they are like spotlights making everything clear and colors for party mode.I am giving 5 stars because these are really cool devices for a honestly super fair price. If I could give any feedback to Govee it would be to keep some memory in the lights so they retain their last setting, when you hit the light switch they reset and you need to set them back up on your phone.

Easy to set up, does lose wifi sometimes, alexa integration doesn’t have full functionality
These are gorgeous and when going through the govee app there’s a lot of cool automations to do. I haven’t found a way to do the same through Alexa yet, which is a problem.A bigger problem is these sometimes lose the wifi connection when the switch is manually turned off for too long. It’s easy enough to go into the app to turn it back on, but meanwhile alexa can’t interact with it

Amazing lights
These lights are amazing . The ideas and options you can do are endless and great for any setting or mood. Easy to install. Only once did I experience where a random light would cut on in the middle of the night . I removed them from the Govee app and synchronized them over again and the problem was resolved.

I picked these up to replace the hallway lights that were installed when the house was built; they fit perfectly. Super easy to install, the provided instructions make installation a breeze. They get nice and bright with customizable brightness’ and colors. They can be tied into other Govee devices like motion sensors to automatically turn on lights (like in our master closet).I am a fan of the Govee line, so I have experience with their app and other lights.

Love the lights and look but……a few caveats
In terms of electrical installations, these lights are very easy to install. I would make some suggestions to Govee.1. Make the junction /splice box bigger. When bringing in your romex 14/2 w/gnd cable connecting it to the light and to another romex 14/2 w/gnd to go to the next fixture. It’s tight and difficult.2. Make the wires in the JB a little longer. That would make the previous comment easier or less of a problem.3. Make the cable between the JB and the fixture longer. That way one can easily install it to the nearest stud not every room is built the same and not everyone will install the light near a stud. This way if u install on a stud u can easily find it in the future for any needs. Versus placing it on the sheetrock and then having to cover it with insulation.4. These Govee downlights do NOT have the ability to do adaptive lighting with Govee app nor the Apple home app. Adaptive lighting means auto adjust color temperature of your light per time of day and location. If u want bright white in the morning and at night the soft white and late night soft yellow dim, you have to do it manually or program it yourself.5. Matter but NOT Thread over matter. Govee does NOT promote Thread over Matter on their devices so it’s not me saying they lied. It’s a suggestion to start developing the use of thread over matter protocol to lighten the load on people’s wifi.6. This is a disappointment suggestion, but if you choose to use the border rim light function with the downlight function at the same time, you lose ALOT OF LIGHT POWER! 100% brightness goes WAY WAY DOWN. In that scenario 100% looks like 40% of when u dont use the rim light. FIX THIS GOVEE7. Second disappointment that needs a fix. If u control the lights with Apple Home you can only use the lights with the border light on. Meaning ur max brightness is really like the 40% previously mentioned. You must use the Govee app to individually control the downlight separate from the rim light. I was expecting two lights in Apple Home per light fixture installation. PLEASE FIX GOVEEGood things are:The lights are super bright (if you dont use the rim light) which I love! You can adjust to so many colors. It has the border rim option to adjust color as well. it looks really slick when installed properly. Has matter protocol which is awesome for smart home enthusiasts (but i much rather have Thread over Matter). The quality for the cost is great. Great pricing in my opinion.3 stars for now cause I am a little annoyed at a couple of things but overall I like them a lot.Right now I feel like i rather pay a bit more for the Philips Hue equivalent because of adaptive lighting feature even tho Hue does not use Matter. But if you already own a Hue Bridge then you will be ok.GOVEE please fix the lighting brightness issue with rim light usage, fix the issue where I cant control Rim light separate from downlight in Apple Home. And ADD Adaptive lighting. All this can be fixed for existing owners through a firmware update so when done, I will change my review to 5 stars!

The pot lights themselves are great. But Govee pushes for server access so you require internet. Which is not a big deal, but the fact that there’s no real integration outside of the govee app including home assistant and other platforms. They have too much control and you don’t have the freedom for an item you paid for.
