Doubling capacity on the NAS, same 4 hard drives like the ones running 24/7 from 3 years ago
I have all ironwolf Nas hard drives, 4 10tb drives on a raid6 configuration running 3 years without any glitches. Just bought another 4 to expand the size primarily used for photos and videos. I have a synology DS3617xs with 12 bays and planning on adding 3 for a total of seven plus one as a hot swap backup.I used the benchmark function on the synology storage manager and got the results shown in the last picture, mainly the following: read 243MB/s throughput with 12.0 ms latency and 237 IOPS, and for write 283 IOPS, 242 MB/s throughput and 3.6 ms latency. When the datasheet from Seagate for a 10 TB HD shows 214MB/s and 4.16 average latency.I’ve been happy with the performance, you have the option of getting up to 14 TB in this ironwolf pro Nas version however I chose not to use the highest capacity trying to prevent a larger loss of information on case of a failure. Obviously there are several drives but I prefer having less info loss vs higher capacity. It just depends on what you save on your drives. These I highly recommend both for Nas or the faster ssd drives for cache and operating system.

    Excellent Support from Seagate
I purchased 4 IronWolf Pro 10TB Drives for my Synology NAS, everything went smoothly with the setup. One year later one drive began to have Bad Sectors, at first 2, then 6, then 8, then 20 and by the time it was 34 bad sectors I decided it was time to contact Seagate and execute my 5-year warranty coverage for this pro-level drive. The return RMA process was as simple as logging into Seagate website and submit the drive SN for return, a few minutes later I got a confirmation email with shipping instructions. The replacement took about 2 weeks to arrive (shipping) due to East Coast to West Coast, but Seagate processed the return the second day of arrival on their end.Long story short – if you buy a Seagate drive, they stand behind their warranty.

    Not Synology Compatible Out-Of-Box
Factory configuration is for Power-up in standby (PUIS) which is incompatible with my Synology DS916+. To use with Synology; you have to find the right utility on Seagates’ web site… boot the drive in a computer… and the run a commandline utility to turn off PUIS. Doing that will disable this feature and allow you to use the drive in your NAS.

    These drives failed!!!
I bought a pair of these and they failed just after a year of owning them. I also bought a Seagate Barracuda Pro 8TB that failed within 2 years of owning it. I will now be buying Western Digital drives.

So far so good, no issues
So far so good, no issues. The issue with a drive review is that when it works it works and nothing to complain about. No noise, no noticeable issues, no funny smells etc. It’s how it lasts and being that it’s a NAS drive furthermore the PRO series it better last! So for now 5 stars, if it dies suddenly or gets error I promise to update my review.Packing was standard, brown box with a drive secured in it.I doubt there is really any huge difference with the standard model and the pro model but at the time of purchase this was in stock for same day delivery and the other was a wait. So it was a no brainer for me as I needed a drive ASAP to replace a depleting space issue.

Beefy Hard Drives for a Beefy NAS System!
I bought a few of these for my new Synology NAS, I’ve gotta say these are BEEFY! So far, no problems here whatsoever. They all worked right out of the box as expected and are quite fast, though I don’t have exact specs. I will say I did a lot of research beforehand and my brother in law (who is very competent in the ways of IT tech) had nothing but good things to say about these. I’m glad I listened to his advice!

3 out of 8 have failed in 2.5 years
Bought 8 of these 10TB for a synology NAS 1 was bad at install and two have failed in the last 2.5 years. 3 stars because the warranty covered the replacement, but the hassle of returning, peace of mind, etc. is disappointing in a supposed enterprise class HD. Thank god for raid 6.

    Great NAS Drive
I use these hard disk drives in my home QNAP NAS to hold all of my media (Music, Recorded TV, Movies, Photos, Home Videos). The NAS is in the basement, so I do not hear what little noise they make. They work great and I don’t have any latency issues when streaming uncompressed over-the-air HD Recorded TV. I will be purchasing them again when I undoubtedly expand my storage.
