I bought this little box without knowing for certain if it would do what I wanted it to do. I put some smart wafer lights in my kitchen ceiling, but they do not respond to my SmartThings commands if the double-pole light switch they are connected to is switched off. I was hoping the installation of this switch would remotely turn the switch on and enable the lights to still work.When I first got this thing, I chickened out of installing it in this switch because I wasn’t 100% confident I understood the wiring diagram, and I wasn’t even sure it would do what I wanted it to do even if it was installed properly. So it stayed unused for about 6 weeks until I got the bright idea to use it on a single-pole switch that operated a track light over the kitchen sink that predated my foray into SmartThings connectivity. I still battled my insecurities about the wiring diagram but proceeded anyway, connecting the wires as I best understood it.When I powered the circuit back on, I could tell I had done it right because every time I touched the test button on the Sonoff module, the lights went from on to off or vice versa. But after downloading the recommended app (eWeLink) on my smartphone, I could not get the module to be recognized. With SmartThings, there is compatibility with other apps, so once you get the native app to recognize the device, you can import it into SmartThings. Anyway, I tried a number of times to initialize the module so the eWeLink app could connect, but never succeeded. Finally out of desperation, I opened up my SmartThings app and initiated the Add Device command, and it recognized it almost immediately. So now I can control these track lights through SmartThings. And the wild thing is that the single-pole wall switch now behaves like a double-pole switch. If you want to turn the lights on by activating the wall switch, you simply flick the switch up if it’s down, or down if it’s up. The “on” and “off” label embossed on the toggle is no longer relevant.

Awesome relays
Worked perfectly to convert two switches from dumb to smart. I really like the setup of having the relay control the light, while the physical switch becomes a physical input to the relay. It means that any one in my family can still walk up the switch and control the light. While others have complained that it screws up the “up is on and down is off” muscle memory, we have so many 3 way switches in our house that we’re used to just toggling switches in either direction to toggle the state.As others have mentioned, it can be a little tough to get a tight grip on the wire. It feels like the sweet spot is right at the threshold of being too loose or going too far and breaking it. So far I got both to work OK, but I don’t think they’d hold up to uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times.

I got this to smarten up a light switch in my old house. I tried a dedicated smart switch from the same manufacturer first, but the electrical boxes behind my light switches were physically too narrow for it to fit inside. This little relay, on the other hand, was tiny enough to fit behind my existing light switch.Installation was easy enough. Trim excess wire off of the existing wire connected to your switch, so that there is no exposed copper when you attach the wires to the relay. The live wire goes in the “Load In” terminal, the other one goes in Load Out. Then wire the relay to your existing switch with the S1 and S2 terminals. (I harvested wire from an old computer power cable for this.)This is a Zigbee relay, so you will need some sort of Zigbee coordinator/hub in order to operate it. I had no trouble connecting it to my existing Zigbee network in Home Assistant using ZHA. Once set up, you can control it either via your Zigbee network or with the old physical switch.Do your research before using this. I’ve been advised to not use this with inductive loads, such as fluorescent lights.

Not good, doesn’t respond to commands consistently
After several months I finally gave up on this as a remote relay at the light switch. It disconnects from the hub and doesn’t respond to remote commands consistently. I went with a ZEN 51 instead.

Para que funcione ser requiere un Zigbee Hub, no funciona directamente con Wifi y la app de Sonoff. Se agrega el Hub a la app y luego, se agregan los subdispositivos como este ZBMINIL2

I bought this about a year ago to convert the switch on the outside of my bathroom to a smart switch. I have no neutral wire, so this was obviously the no-neutral version!As you can see in the details, this is a really small device and fitted nicely behind the switch in a 35mm back box. The instructions are fairly clear and it’s straightforward to wire up.Its a Zigbee device and once installed, it connected seamlessly with home assistant. I used ZHA on a sonoff 3.0 USB dongle plus. As it has no neutral, it doesn’t work as a Zigbee router, so won’t work to extend your Zigbee mesh.All in all a great product that has allowed me to convert a dumb switch to a smart one. In addition, the physical dumb switch remains functional which keeps the luddites in my family happy too!

This Zigbee switch does exactly what it’s supposed to do: it reliably controls the light. The installation was surprisingly straightforward. I was able to connect it to my existing wiring without any issues, and its very compact size meant it fit perfectly into my round wall box, which is about 6 cm in diameter.Out of the box, it works as a direct replacement for a standard switch, but of course, it’s not “smart” on its own. This is where I hit a small snag. I wasn’t initially aware that to unlock its smart features—specifically, the ability to pair it with another wireless switch or remote—you absolutely need a Zigbee hub. This crucial detail could be clearer in the product description.Once my hub arrived, the pairing and setup process through the app was quick and effortless. The ability to now control the light from multiple points and integrate it into my smart home system is fantastic.Pros:- Extremely compact – fits into small wall boxes.- Simple physical installation – works with standard wiring.- Reliable performance and fast pairing once a hub is available.Cons:- Requires a Zigbee hub for all smart functionality (not always obvious for buyers).- The included instructions could be more comprehensive and clearer.
