Just buy it… you’ll find many uses!
I’ve never done plastic welding but this was a great kit to get started with. Very easy to use, tons of plastic material and accessories, which proved very useful for my first big project. A big storm had flipped and buckled the plastic slide on a play set at our church. While the broken wood parts could be repaired readily and inexpensively, to replace the slide was going to be $600. For the low price of this welding kit it was worth a try to get the kiddos playing again. It worked surprisingly well and was very easy to use. The results aren’t going to be picture perfect, necessarily, but this can save you time of money. For this project I made a bend on the squiggly staples to match the curved surface, cut the wires low with side cutters, used a Dremel to grind down the ends of the metal posts and then filled in with the supplied plastic. That was to keep the posts from catching or cutting the kids’ hands. Not pretty, but it worked, and I tested the slide myself.The welder has plenty of power and heat. It does get warm to hold after long use, but just take a break and let it cool off, or wear work gloves

Great Tool for Automotive and DIY Plastic Repairs

Solid Overall
This is a solid plastic welder. Already used it for a few projects to fixing cracks, to fully welding back on plastic pieces.It heats up quick and you can get to work in a few minutes. Haven’t had any issues with it overheating for longer jobs.My only negatives, is that it comes with one style plastic melter and in some cases it would be nice to have different shapes to be able to do a better job. The other thing is that the back end of it does get quite hot. Also the snips and the utility knife it comes with are not great. Specially the utility knife. It pretty much doesn’t function. Also the little light on the welder is only useful for letting you know it’s on and heating.Otherwise it comes with quite of bit of accessories that should last you for some time, to do multiple jobs. Comes with a lot of black, grey, white, and clear sticks.

It’s works!
The reviews were good so I bought one for my home shop. I had several plastic items and plastic parts on equipment that were cracked or needed repairs. After a few of months use I have made several repairs. It doesn’t necessarily look pretty when finished but it really works well and makes a strong plastic repair. I have repaired 4 wheeler fenders, garbage cans, gas cans and several other plastic parts. It uses wire mesh or wire ties that you melt across the break. I have make critical repairs on parts that otherwise would have been impossible to fix and were to expensive or not possible to replace. Inexpensive and very useful for a DIY person.

Power cycles every 5 minutes, but good as a stapler.
This is a great tool for inserting the “nails” (or maybe you call them “staples”). It works perfectly and quickly for that purpose. As far as a “welder,” however, it is very slow. I repaired my kayak and eventually gave up. You could definitely weld a square centimeter or two with this, but you have to keep putting it in the refrigerator every 5 minutes. It is good for 5 minutes, then it needs 15 minutes to cool down before you start again. This is to protect the circuitry. I will keep it for the staple ability. Also, the mesh it came with is nice. I ended up pushing that into the plastic over the nails for a more robust repair. Then, I purchased a heat gun (also on Amazon) and used the heat gun to weld in HDPE strips I bought on Amazon as well. This was fast and worked much better than this tool. So, if you’re doing anything larger than 1 square cm or two, I suggest you also get a heat gun to go with this stapler. I uploaded some photos. The finished product (with the heat gun) isn’t too bad! I smoothed it by using a sander to take down the high sections. Then i used the heat gun to make it turn from white and dusty back to smooth and red. Finished photo not uploaded because this is what I got BEFORE the heat gun (using this product that I am reviewing).

We were very happy with the product when it arrived. Plenty of staples and plastic sticks were provided. The product seems nice and sturdy also. We were however very disappointed when we used it because the interior transformer got damaged on first use. The reason for this is that the gun happened to be a 110V type when in my country the mains is of 220V. There is no indication on the product information page or purchase page that this gun is of the 110V type because in such a case we would have ensured to buy a gun which was compatible with the 220V mains of our country!

Works well for repairing plastic bumpers and undershields. I have used it on my Mazda 3 front bumper and plastic shields. The melt in staples are great. The cutters work OK on the staples but might wear out after a while. The 220 watt rating means the gun heats up quickly and lets my complete my repairs easily

It’s definitely a money saver so far. It’s easy to operate and work’s very well for placing staples. They heat up quickly and placement is simple. The only issue so far is the additional rod melting and cutting blades. They are not really help in place Beyond a friction fit that sometimes has a little less connection that the blade won’t heat up very well. It’s not designed to be used for long periods of time for weld filling the gun gets hot. If there’s a poor connection with the tip it won’t heat up so surface need’s to be cleaned on the blade and the gun. There’s definitely a chance of damage to the system if over heated but trying to fill a large area.
