Not just for home theaters!
While advertised for home theater setups, this device is useful for anyone struggling with their TV remote not working correctly from different positions. My issue was that my JBL soundbar blocked the IR sensor on my Hisense TV,(The IR sensor is located at the front of the tv and receives your remote commands.) Because of this, I had to hold the remote overhead and aim it at the TV to get it to work. The CableMatters IR Extender Cable solved this problem perfectly. I simply plugged one end into the TV’s USB port, attached the extender’s IR sender to the back of my soundbar using the adhesive sticker, aligning it with the TV’s IR sensor, and then positioned the IR receiver from the extender in front of the soundbar. Suddenly, the remote worked from any position in the room without needing to aim it directly at the TV. I highly recommend the CableMatters Infrared Remote Extender Cable—an affordable solution to a frustrating issue!

Five Years and Going Strong
I have been using this IR Repeater for nearly 5 years, and it has been flawless. I have the transmitter attached to my Yamaha RX-V683 AV Receiver and the receiver where I usually point my remote.

Works perfectly!My wife bought a new gorgeous entertainment center but it has no glass doors or any other way to send an IR signal from the remote to the device when the doors are closed.This little product hooks up in seconds and does the trick! I have the receiver portion of this just barely peeking out from the corner of my center channel speaker that sits on top of the entertainment stand. The cord runs down the length of the speaker and behind the stand down into the stand where it points right at my AV receiver and my 4k player.One thing to note: this is not a programmable type device. It picks up ANY IR signal from ANY remote and transmits that signal to the other end. I did not realize this before I purchased this and actually ordered two of them thinking I’d need one for the AV receiver and one for my 4k player as they’re in the same cubby of the entertainment stand but on different shelves. Not so. Once I realized this I positioned the broadcast portion of the device on the inside of the door of the stand so that it can broadcast the remote’s signal to either device, depending on what remote I’m using. Ultimately I returned the unused second device and just kept the one.I sit about 12’ or so from the receiving end of the device and have had no issues whatsoever sending a signal to the device from my couch.Very cool little product that does exactly what you need it yo do. Highly recommended!

Allows IR Remote to control equipment behind cabinet doors or not in direct line of sight
This will extend the range of your infrared remote control and allow you to control equipment (cable box, AV receiver, etc.) inside cabinets behind doors. This is the perfect inexpensive solution if your equipment is hidden or not in an easy line of sight of your remote control. You will need a power adapter (not included) to connect one end of the USB A cable for this to work. An old cell phone charger adapter works. You place the “receiver” which captures the signal from your remote control in a spot that you can easily point your remote at. Then you double sided tape the “transmitter” in front of the device you are trying to control. Typically the device has an infrared eye that a flashlight will help find. It’s best to tape in front of this. The ‘receiver’ unit has small blue LEDs that flicker to let you know it is receiving a remote control signal. Sometimes it flickers because of random stray signals but doesn’t affect its operation. The “receiver” and “transmitter” each have about 5 feet of wire so you can place them up to 10 feet apart. This works exactly as intended. A recommend buy!

Extremely limited range
While the product worked great, it has a limited range. I could only get 6-8’ (2-3 meters) out, before it wouldn’t pick up the remote signal.Hardly enough for practical use.Was able to plug the USB right into the front of my cable box. Which eliminated the need to plug into a separate power supply.

Bought this item, it works great, but there was one major design flaw — incomplete instructions:I had some issues with getting the IR signals to the receiver, so I popped open the plastic housing with a fingernail and immediately saw the thing they did–the IR receiver part was mounted pointing upward instead of forward. I tilted it away from the PCB (printed circuit board) and pointed it straight out. Now it works perfectly!If you mount it the way I did (with the cord facing away from you), make the same modification as I did. If you mount it with the cord vertical (down or up), do NOT modify it as the design is already optimized for this use case. Also, you pretty much must have line of sight to the receiver. Basically, there should be better instructions on how to mount it.Also, I have it attached directly to my Wi-Fi router (which the Amazon listing says not to do) but the proximity to the router doesn’t seem to matter.

I have a Marantz SR6015 receiver and I have tried countless items that go directly into the receiver but none seems to be working- I have used my Logitech Harmony IR blasters with adapters, I have done whatever to get around the fact that it’s 2023 and we still haven’t found a way to put our AV gear in hidden places (in a cabinet) and manage them with one remote (for my kids’ sake, a click of a button, Apple TV 4K remote)..Well till I found this, Cable Matters, you truly know what you are doing, simple (this is a great thing!) and also very elegant solution!This product requires a signal, and it will transmit that signal from A to B, no questions asked, no limitation. This item is highly recommended!

赤外線リモコンは家庭の中に溢れていますが、感度が悪かったりする物は少なくないです。今回、ガスコンロとレンジフードの連動センサに本製品を使いました。ガスコンロの着火、消火で、レンジフードが連動してＯｎ／Ｏｆｆするのですが、この連動に赤外線を使っています。ガスコンロ手前に赤外線の発光部があり、レンジフード下側に受光部があります。あれ？それ受信できるの？という角度です。メーカーの説明書を見ると、ガスコンロ手前の発光部から出た光は正面にいる（はず）の人の体に反射して、レンジフードの受光部に届くしくみとのこと。そう、正面に人がいないと、連動しないんです。というのも実際に使ってみると、包丁で切ってる最中、洗い物している最中などに火を消そうとして、ガスコンロの正面では無く少し離れたところから手を伸ばして火を消す。なんてことは結構あるんです。そんな時連動せず、レンジフードはついたままになります。そのままでも５時間後には自動でＯＦＦするのですが、けっこうな頻度なので本製品で対策することにしました。幸いガスコンロの発光部の指向性はかなり広く、１８０度近くあるようです。（１８０度近くあっても発光部上部にシンクの凸があるのでレンジフードの受光部には届かない）なので、本製品の受光部をガスコンロの着火スイッチのすぐ上に取り付け、発光部を隣にある冷蔵庫の壁に取り付けました。距離は10cmもないくらいです。また、本製品の受講の感度範囲は正面方向は左右に３０度と商品説明図にあり狭いと感じますが上方向は結構広いです。受光部真正面を０度、真上を９０度としたときに、１２０度くらい、つまり少し後方まで感度があります。完璧に動作してくれています。受光部は信号受信するとＬＥＤが光ってくれるので調整もしやすいです。もう少し受光部が小さいとスマートで嬉しいですが。本製品の発光部も真上方向にも発射されています。私は正面を０度、真上を９０度としたときに８０度位の角度にレンジフードの受信窓がくる感じに設置しましたが問題無く動作しています。本製品の発酵部と、レンジフードの受信部との距離は、１ｍくらいですが、問題無く動作しています。また、本製品発酵部また、ケーブル長さもバリエーションはいくつかあるようですが、もう少し自由度が欲しいですね。ＵＳＢ電源部が足りずＵＳＢ延長ケーブルをつかったり、発光部がだいぶ長すぎたりしました。まぁ、自由度を上げるということはコネクタが増えたりして、それはそれで難しいかと思いますが・・・。本製品で最も残念なところは両面テープの色です。本体が黒なのに両面テープは白で厚みもあるので結構目立ちます。白っぽい所に貼り付ける場合は気にならないでしょうけど、色の濃いところに付けると結構目立ちます。耐久性についてはこれからですが、価格を考えると、今のところ大満足です。障害物が多くテレビのリモコンも、持ち上げて角度を調整しながら使っていたので本製品を導入しましたが、らくちんで世界が変わります。
