Loving this right out of the box (upgraded from Marshall Emberton II)
I just bought this on a Black Friday sale for about $180 plus tax after keeping an eye out for price drops for 2 years (it used to be as high as $300). Amazon made it easy to buy with their “Pay in 3 months” plan so I pulled the trigger.I’ve only had the Acton III for 1 day, but I LOVE it so far — it’s a big upgrade from my Marshall Emberton II (which I also really like but is much less powerful). Sounds great and has plenty of volume. Totally worth it.It looks and feels like an old school analog Marshall amplifier with the On/Off switch and the manual Volume, Treble, and Bass Controls — and I guess you could use it as one since it has a 3.5 port in the back.Oh and YES you can control the volume on it remotely with your iPhone (I typically use Spotify).Just bear in mind this has to be plugged in to a power outlet to work — it’s not something you charge up and take with you to the park or whatnot. So you’ll wasn’t to find the best spot for it in your home. This is already the best speaker I’ve owned in more than 20 years — and that was an old analog speaker.Very happy with the Acton so far, hope it lasts a long time.Note: I intend to keep my Emberton II for use in the bathroom and bedroom where I don’t need much volume anyway.

Highly recommend
I recently purchased the Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Speaker in Cream, and here’s my detailed review based on my experience:Design and Build QualityThe Marshall Acton III immediately impresses with its classic, iconic design. The cream-colored finish gives it a modern yet vintage look that fits seamlessly into any home or office decor. The gold accents on the control knobs, speaker grill, and logo provide a nice contrast to the cream, adding a touch of elegance without being over-the-top. It feels like a high-quality product, and the solid construction reflects Marshall’s reputation for durable, premium audio gear. It’s compact but powerful, easily fitting on a shelf or tabletop without taking up too much space, yet still delivering rich, full sound. I also appreciate the rubber feet on the bottom that keep the speaker stable and prevent it from sliding around when adjusting the volume or playing music.Sound QualityThe sound quality is definitely where the Marshall Acton III shines. Despite its relatively small size, this speaker offers excellent, balanced sound. I was particularly impressed with the bass—it’s deep and punchy without being overpowering, which is important for a small speaker like this. The mids are clear and articulate, making vocals and instrumentals sound natural, while the treble is crisp but not harsh. Whether I’m listening to rock, pop, or even classical music, the sound is always full, rich, and immersive. The stereo sound is impressive, and the speaker can fill a decent-sized room without losing clarity or becoming distorted, even at higher volumes. Low distortion and high volume capabilities make this speaker perfect for parties or gatherings, and I never feel like the audio breaks down under pressure.Bluetooth and ConnectivitySetting up the Bluetooth connection was incredibly easy. I had it up and running within minutes, and the connection stays strong and stable even at a fair distance. The range is solid, and I didn’t experience any dropouts during usage. This is ideal if you’re moving around the room or want to control your music without being tethered to the speaker. You can also connect the speaker using a wired connection, thanks to the 3.5mm auxiliary input, which is great for those who want to connect devices without Bluetooth. Multi-device pairing is a feature that allows you to easily switch between devices, and the dedicated buttons for Bluetooth control are intuitive to use.Control and FunctionalityThe top panel is equipped with a set of analog control knobs for volume, bass, and treble, which I really appreciate. These knobs give you precise control over the sound and let you customize the audio to your preference. The controls feel smooth and tactile, and they add a nice retro touch to the speaker. There’s also a power switch on the back, which is simple to use. It would be great to have a more intuitive way of turning it off (e.g., through the app), but it’s a minor issue considering the speaker’s other strengths.Battery LifeThe battery life isn’t relevant for this model, as it needs to be plugged in for use. However, that’s not a drawback at all, as this speaker is designed for stationary use, whether in your living room or on a desk. Its ability to connect to power without worrying about battery life is a plus for consistent, long-term listening.Price and ValueThe Marshall Acton III is certainly a premium speaker, so it’s priced higher than many other Bluetooth speakers on the market. That said, considering the build quality, sound performance, and the classic Marshall aesthetic, I feel like it offers great value for money. You’re paying for both the sound and the iconic design, which makes it a worthwhile investment for anyone who values both.ConclusionOverall, the Marshall Acton III Bluetooth Speaker in Cream is a stellar product. It offers an impressive sound quality, sleek design, and reliable Bluetooth connectivity. The analog controls give it a retro, tactile feel, while the solid construction ensures it’s built to last. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys listening to high-quality audio in a compact, stylish package. If you’re someone who appreciates both form and function and is willing to invest a bit more for a speaker that’s both visually appealing and offers great sound, the Marshall Acton III is definitely worth considering. My only real issue with it is the lack of a built-in battery, but for home use, that’s not a huge dealbreaker.Highly recommended for those who want both performance and style in their audio setup!

Gorgeous Quality Speaker
We’ve been phasing out our Alexa’s as our toddler learned to talk to it. This speaker is replacing an Alexa speaker that was on our fireplace mantle. I know it’s pricey even on sale but it’s worth every penny. Amazing sound. Really clean notes and pairing is the EASIEST ever. Will even play from my phone when it’s upstairs. And the best part is it’s a gorgeous speaker. I love love love it.

Fantastic sound and retro vibe, but cannot be paired as stereo speakers
The sound quality on this speaker is amazing. It’s rich, full, and has that warm, dimensional tone Marshall is known for. Setup was quick and simple, and the retro design looks fantastic in the room. It feels like a piece of art that happens to sound incredible. My only frustration is that I bought two with the intention of setting them up as a stereo pair – which isn’t possible with this model. I wish that were clearer upfront, because a pair of these working together would have been incredible. That said, I still kept both because the sound and aesthetic are that good. If you’re buying a single speaker, it’s an excellent choice. Just don’t expect to link two for stereo

Impressed
I’m blown away by how good this sounds. I have a Sonos of the same size and it’s nowhere near as good sounding as this. I like the physical knobs, Bluetooth compatibility, and sound quality. It’s very intuitive to use. I’ve tried a few speakers so far and they have all had terrible bass. The marshal acton bass is solid. My only complaint about this is that it’s not the most portable. There is no handle except a hole in the backside for gripping, and no battery for portability. The tradeoff with the battery is definitely worth it, though, for the sound quality. I have to figure out if I can secure some sort of handle, though, because I like to move my speaker around the house.

Absolutely love this Home speaker!
The Marshall Acton III is a compact home speaker with a main driver/woofer and two outward angled tweeters. The fidelity and clarity is remarkable. The bass is surprisingly strong with the rear port. This speaker is perfect in my living room in an apartment. Despite the Actons small size, It gets louder than you would ever need for an apartment. I mostly use it with my Fluance RT81+ turntable. Fits great on my record player stand. I also use it with my Fiio DM13 CD player and sometimes Bluetooth with my phone. This speaker is extremely versatile. Though it is small, the sound quality is unmatched for the size. I would recommend to anyone!

Like most of us, I’ve dabbled with battery-powered bluetooth speakers over the past decade or so. Of these, perhaps the *highest* rating I would give would be 3/5, and that only because of their portability. But recently with 25 of us in a room for a big screen Zoom call for a series of lectures, I needed a compact (low profile) speaker of more substance. THIS speaker has more substance–oh yeah. From the on switch that feels like you’re powering up a 747 (a gold-plated version with an oak-trimmed captain’s chair and sterling silver service), a quality AUX (input) connection (so I could use bluetooth for microphones), to the hefty dials, the subtle red lights, and the absolutely great looking case, this Marshall Acton III was the cream on the coffee for my AV setup. The sound was robust and very clear, carrying all through the 40×20 space. Mind you, the bass was heavy, but setting it to 1 while cranking the treble to 10 enabled it to broadcast even the quietest, ‘mumblingest’ person on Zoom very clearly. I bought a bright red 16ft audio cable that looked terrific plugged into the unit (red also makes for a good visual safety cue to prevent tripping over the cable). Now my bootooth (as typed) speakers are relegated to the drawer–this guy is going to remain front and centre. Strong recommend.
