8 reviews for TERRAMASTER F2-425 Plus NAS Storage – 2Bay Intel N150 Quad-Core CPU, 8GB RAM DDR5, 5GbE LAN x 2, M.2 Slot x 3, Network Attached Storage for Teamwork, Multimedia Server (Diskless)

  1. Kathy Csaszar

    Very satisfied.
The unit is exactly as advertised and reviewed by others on line. In that my use case in not that rigorous, I really can’t attest to how it compares to the competition. I only had one issue in opening up the device to install an SSD; one of the screws was entirely too tight and ended up a little chewed up. All in all, I’m very satisfied.

  3. reviews

    Best NAS’s now
I really do think TerraMaster makes the best values for NAS devices now. They’re simple to setup. They have good processors with this being an N150. It’s loaded with storage slots, 4 SATA and 3 NVME m.2. It’s effectively a great minipc and NAS. TOS is easy to use though you can use alternatives easily. Pretty much after the initial setup, you have a simple file server that’s easily discoverable. Then you can extend it with container run services. It’s great. Plus it’s all easy to get drives in and out. The HDD trays are tool-less. Network speed support is great through the two Ethernet ports that can aggregate. Amazing file server for a bunch of small files or individual large files. Pretty much I’m hosting my own cloud drive storage, photo organizer, video backups, video game backups, jellyfin server, cloud office server and it runs perfectly for myself. The low power Intel chip is solid for this. Once you fill every drive slot, it’ll use some power but pretty much not worse than a modern video game console. It’s a great box. It looks great. It runs great. It’s fast to get started. Just as a simple file server, you can probably keep it going for decades just upgrading storage occasionally. I’m a TerraMaster fan now. Best value in the market currently

Exactly what I needed for my home media server and backup solution
I’ve been running Synology boxes for years, but decided to give TerraMaster a shot with this model and I’m genuinely impressed. The specs caught my eye – 16GB DDR5 and that Intel N150 chip handles Plex transcoding way better than my old setup. I’ve thrown multiple 4K streams at it simultaneously and it doesn’t break a sweat.Setup took me a few hours, mostly because I was migrating data from my old NAS. The TOS 6 interface isn’t quite as polished as what I’m used to, but it’s functional and I got the hang of it pretty quickly. The real game-changer for me was the data drive mounting feature – I could just pop in my existing drives without reformatting, which saved me tons of time and stress. The dual 5GbE ports are fantastic. I’m getting around 900+ MB/s transfers over my network, which makes backing up large video projects actually bearable. I do video editing work and being able to pull and push files this fast directly from the NAS is a workflow improvement I didn’t know I needed.I’m using two of the M.2 slots for SSD cache, and the performance bump is noticeable for frequently accessed files. The third slot I’m saving for future expansion. Build quality feels solid – the aluminum chassis stays cool even under load, and the push-lock drive trays are surprisingly satisfying to use.If you’re comfortable with NAS basics and want serious performance without breaking the bank, this is a solid choice.

    Nice hardware, software is meh
I bought this after owning a QNAP for ten years. N150 essentially gives me the same power as the 3rd gen i7 I had except tdp is 6w instead of 65w. So I like the CPU and the 3x m.2 slots. The software looked like trash compared to qnap and Synology, but I had no intention of using it. Easily installed debian, zfs, cockpit, docker and portainer. I have a small 250gb m.2 for the OS, a 2TB WD red m.2 for frigate recordings and swap, anything that needs caching. Then 4x 12tb drives in a zfs array. Using a 2.5bt switch I can pull about 1.3gbps off of the zfs array.I’m taking off 1 star because the software looks worse than what competitors had ten years ago, would not trust it.

    Look elsewhere
I have had nothing but bad luck with this unit. After realizing that hardware I had laying around from an older NAS was not on the compatibility list, I paid up for drives from their recommended hardware list. No configuration of drive(s) installation allows you to get past the initialization process. Support seems to be by forum, slow, and limited pertaining my issues with this hardware. I wanted to like it due to the specs, but sadly I cannot get it to work. I have 30 years in the computer industry. This is not the plug and play I anticipated.

    Perfect NAS for our network.
Terramaster makes excellent products so I decided to go with them when setting up a NAS in my home. This device is amazing!I needed the four slots for drives so I could set up redundancy storage for my data. Once finished and on my home network, I filled the drives with videos, family photos, data, etc. When that was finished I let my wife and son try and access the NAS from their PC and laptop. They were able to without any issues! This is exactly what I needed.I found this device relatively quiet, it doesn’t produce a lot of heat, and it was easy to work with if you’re familiar with technology. I’m totally happy with this product and I highly recommend it!
