Works beautifully, saves my Sengled bulbs from obsolescence, and local control = no outages
Originally I got one of these as a customer-support proposed improvement to controlling my Third Reality sensors & switches, and later added 3R smart blinds as well. It worked for that, bypassing 3R’s cloud services which seemed unreliable. I had little to no trouble setting it up and connecting it to Alexa and Home Assistant – and performance was dramatically improved. But it gets even better, elevating it up to 6-star territory. It also connects to my Sengled bulbs and plugs, after the Sengled platform started falling apart. With it, I was able to add all my bulbs and plugs, no problem. The Sengled devices actually work better with the bridge than 3R’s own Smart Blinds do. The 3R smart blinds still have issues getting detected properly into the Alexa ecosystem (e.g. one of the blinds doesn’t present any controls to Alexa but it’s present/detected, and controllable in the 3R-Installer app). But the fact that it works so perfectly with Sengled’s bulbs? Amazing. So, buying this bridge saved me from replacing a bunch of bulbs. I even bought another, to extend the Zigbee range between rooms. You only use the “3R-Installer” app with this thing, because Matter is a local system that’s totally different/separate from 3R’s proprietary cloud-based network. Everything you do on Matter stays inside your home, not using any cloud account. So the 3R-Installer app is used to glue the devices together and give you the info you need to pair the hub over to Alexa and other platforms. No other integrations (that is: you don’t use any 3R “skill” or integration with it). You just use Matter.

Very unstable and frustrating
I finally got this onto my network after two hours of trying. Went through the update process hoping that it would improve connectivity issues but to no avail. CONs: 1) The major drawback is that it wants to be connected to your MAIN network at 2.4GHz and not a subnet! This is a MAJOR security risk and seems like a SPYING DEVICE to me! 2) The more devices you connect, the more unstable and slow it becomes. I have 11 smart plugs connected and with each one added it got slower to control. 3) EVERY TIME I log into the device or try to control something it losses Wi-Fi connectivity… then spins and spins trying to reconnect. 4) Updates are very slow and need to be done manually on each device ONE AT A TIME. You would think that it would give you the option to at least update automatically at night, but no. I’ve had this device for over a year now and it only had two updates since. I wouldn’t have known if I didn’t check each time. Again, updates are manual. PROs: 1) The Matter connectivity to my Homey worked ok.I just don’t trust this device connected to my main network and not being isolated on a subnet. Until 3R gets its act together I would stick with the Smart Hub Gen 2 for straight Zigbee and forgo the Matter connectivity.3R generally has good products but the MZ1 is a major halfhearted rookie fail on their part.

It works pretty well, but not perfectly
Using this to tie in some plugs to Google, Alexa and Apple for voice control as well as my primary, home assistant. I was struggling to add it to Apple and Google after adding to home assistant, so I tried removing it from homeassistant and adding it to Apple and Google first and it worked great! It isn’t super fast and plugs have gone unresponsive at times, but they come back on their own. There must be a low power/sleep mode I don’t know about that sleeps the connections. Overall, I’m glad to have it so I can control my plugs vocally, but I do wish it was a little more reliable. I’d probably buy it again if I needed to.

Paired with Sengled smart bulbs to my surprise and delight.
I had to wait a few days before set up after receiving this device. I bought this hub to pair with a four pack of Third Reality Smart bulbs already purchased. I was surprised to learn that this hub also paired with Sengled Smart bulbs. So I now have four more bulbs when the other two go out. Also used the 3R-Installer app to set up the hub and pair very simple.

Not Ready for Prime Time yet
I had high hopes for this device, unfortunately, it needs a lot of work. Where do I begin? At first, it appeared it would be what I hoped for: I added it to Home Assistant via Matter, and then added my 3 Third Reality Blinds. The worked! Then things you would consider fairly normal with tech began:1) This device connects to your wifi to bridge over to Matter. My wifi router needed a firmware update, so as usual I applied it. Then this device would not reconnect to it. Any wifi device I’ve ever had tries to connect again after a power failure or reboot of the router. Not here! I had to pull the power on it and reset it before it connected again.2) When I pulled the power to reset it, it promptly forgot the custom names I assigned to my blinds. I had to figure out which was which by trying them.3) There is no way to view what Zigbee channel this thing uses, or change it. Zigbee has over lapping frequencies with wifi, so you generally don’t want them interfering with each other let alone other Zigbee networks.4) There is no way to change the wifi network you’re joined to. What if I get a new one or change the name/security? Reset the bridge and pair your devices over again?I see this thing has had a lot of rapid fire software updates. It was clearly not ready or tested outside of a development lab to see what the “real world” would do to it. I have about 30 days before my return window closes, if at least half my issues are not addressed by then… back it goes because, as is, it is defective.

POS
This was a waste of money to be honest. Got it to be able to use my automatic light switch and it was supposed to sync my Alexa to it and it didn’t work and it also disconnected.

La conectividad con Alexa es perfecta.Excelente producto

Vista l’impossibilità di collegare le luci ‘intelligenti’ alla relativa app, é stato piacevole averle viste collegate al router. Peccato che altre senza zigbee non sua riuscite a collegarle.

Very quick to set up works great with Google Home. Needs a power supply.
