IFTTT discontinued on Alexa so routines os the work around with voicemonkey
I used mine as a window sensor since I sleep with a window open so if someone or something moves the window I’ll be alerted/alarmed via my echo since its disabled on the real professional house alarm system.I attached the sensors with magnetic tape since you have to change the batter eventually or have a hardware failure/replacement. There’s no actual Govee alarm aside from the water/thermometers that just beep, so that’s why I used Alexa instead.IFTTT has been discontinued so you have to use routines inside of Alexa instead. Alexa can enable/disable routines using the custom line which is what would say i.e.: “enable x routine”.Using Echo 4th Generation, the big one not a dot. I also have a Govee corner light and presence sensor. You need Alexa app, Govee Life app, IFTTT app, and Voice Monkey app. You need to add all these apps as skills in the Alexa App.This is considered a sub sensor BTW.Voice Monkey, add a speaker will treat it like a toggle door open/closed while routine trigger can split the open/close state. Either one will make this Govee devices discoverable for routines now or as a simple doorbell trigger/announcer.Use IFTTT to have the Govee app be the IF trigger, while Voice Monkey be the THEN that will pass along to Alexa.Create a routine in Alexa using the Voice Monkey as the WHEN event, and then fill in the ALEXA WILL section for audio. Save the routine and use something else like a new routine triggered by saying Good morning/Good night to enable and disable rather than saying Turn on/off disable/enable routine name.Additionally you can use the govee app to send you a notification to verify things are being triggered as a redundancy/tracker if you are away from the speaker/announcement device. The one that is sent from Alexa to your phone will only sound any other notification and won’t work as a makeshift alarm.

A must if you have a govee ecosystem!
Literally build your own home automation system the way you want it! I use this because I live in a camper and I’ve put it in between my screen door and my solid door. But I also have a fan that is pretty much strapped to the screen for ventilation. Whenever I have just the screen door open. The contacts are apart so it turns the fan on and when I close the doors together they contact so it turns it off. So if I just want to open the solid door it doesn’t turn on. There are so many other things you can do. You can connect this to their light strips and it will turn them on and you can even set a presence mode as I have with my bathroom door. I have a light strip that is activated by one of these quite inexpensive for what they are sensors. I can even set them to turn off a strip of lights in 10 minutes if the door is closed. I haven’t ventured into third party with these but with as much features as govee puts in their app. I wouldn’t be surprised if it did work with other setups. I know it works with razor chroma because you can set it to turn on the razor chroma devices via the govee app if you link it as my gaming room is activated when I open the door

Functional for Govee products
Good sensor; however does not support direct smart home control. It can automate anything within the Govee ecosystem, but can not for example turn on other lights within Google Home or other services.

Absolute garbage
I own about 30 Govee products, and they’re mostly great, but this thing is absolute garbage.I’ve been messaging back and forth with support for 2+ weeks, and I still can’t get a straight answer as to whether or not this can work solely via Bluetooth. All of my other Govee devices with seamlessly with either WiFi or Bluetooth.I have the Govee app pinned open on my phone, and all I want is a notification when the door is opened or closed. How hard can this possibly be?!? The app claims the device is connected. The gap is far less than the requirement. The battery appears to be working. Yet the journal shows no activity. I don’t get it.

Good battery life and good range
I’ve had it installed on my mailbox since July 2023. Battery just died yesterday, November 2024. A solid 15 months of battery life with ~ 4 triggers per day.Keep in mind I live in SoCal. Device and battery withstood outdoor temperatures over 110F during the summer months. A true real-life torture test.I have it paired with a H5080 switch for the Distributed Gateway to work. I haven’t had any reception issues, assuming a reasonable distance is maintained. The switch I keep indoors, and the signal has to travel 40 feet, through 2 walls, and some junk for the trigger to register, and it works just fine. Really impressed.Bonus. You can customize the notification sound on Android. I have my notification play the infamous “You’ve got mail!” audio clip, which I think is kinda neat. Keep in mind, I’m not sure if you can set multiple custom notification sounds for multiple sensors, or if you can only customize the notification sound for all devices (as in all devices would have to play the exact same notification sound).Only gripe is that the battery died unexpectedly. One day I had 3 of 5 bars of battery life, and the next day it was empty. No biggie, now I know what to expect.I rarely write reviews, but I’m just really impressed with this little sensor. Solved a big issue for me, with mail theft being so trendy as of late.
