I bought a thermostat. It now controls the house, the dog, and possibly the space-time continuum.
I thought I was just buying a fancy thermostat. HA! Cute, innocent, naive. This thing is a glowing tyrant with an accomplice: my dog, who now considers himself the thermostat’s personal bouncer.Day 1: I install it. The thermostat lights up in colors so beautiful I briefly considered apologizing for every life mistake. My dog tilts his head and growls like:“Yes… human. You will obey.”Day 2: I set the temperature to 72°F. The thermostat blinked judgmentally. My dog barked three times. The mailman ran away screaming. I realized my dog is now a smart thermostat enforcer.Day 3: I left for work. My phone pings:“Human absent. Adjusted temperature to perfection. Also, we found your secret snacks. Shame.”The dog stared at the pantry, wagging his tail like, “We know what you did.”By Day 4, the thermostat and dog have formed an alliance. The lights flicker in Morse code:“We are watching. We are judging. Do not touch the couch.”I touched the couch. My dog barked. My Roomba spun in alarm. My water glass mysteriously tipped over. I may or may not have screamed.It gets worse:• The thermostat now has moods: Red = rage, Blue = melancholy, Rainbow = plotting my demise• The dog enforces these moods: one bark = slight scolding, five barks = immediate evacuation of the living room• The fridge refuses to open unless the thermostat gives permissionPros:• Touchscreen interface: feels like piloting the Starship Enterprise while being mocked by a glowing overlord• Wi-Fi & Alexa: argue with the thermostat remotely while the dog judges your life choices• Energy-saving features: secretly humiliate you for wasting electricityCons:• Will take over your house, your dog, and possibly your soul• Dog may bark at you 17 times in rapid succession for breaking thermostat etiquette• Could recruit the Roomba, fridge, and smart bulbs into a full-blown domestic coupVerdict: 12/10.I no longer control my own house. Easy to install and looks great.
Replaced my broken Honeywell RTH6580WF 1001 thermostat with this one. Functions like the old unit. Installation was easy just remove the old one and install this one. Wiring was push in terminal type. No more using a screwdriver. Display is big and bright. I dont know how it knows the outside temperature but it was nice to have. My Wifi was a little difficult. The issue I had was I had to figure out and use WPA2 personal security on my router instead of the WPA2 / WPA that my router was configured for. It would not connect and reported a password error. It connected when I changed my router to WPA2. Wasted an hour trying to figure that out. I did not see that mentioned in the manual. As far a I know there is no battery in the unit as the unit is powered from the furnace.I used the app to program the temperatures from my phone. I noticed a new function for recirculating the air using the fan in the app.

Installed recently on my propane forced air furnace . The instructions are clear and thorough. It takes a bit of finesse at the wall but not overly difficult. One nice thing is that I was able to use the same mounting screws that held my 12 yr old Honeywell thermostat! (Kudos to Honeywell for keeping the same spacing!) You will need to locate and use the “C” wire on your heating unit. If you don’t have one there is a workaround but you lose some fan functionality!The Wifi hookup takes a while and requires you to create an account. All pretty standard stuff. Lots of settings and preferences to set .Once completed it seems to work fine manually and by Wifi!My only complaint is that the screen has faint diagonal lines across it! But hey, it’s a thermostat, not a 72” flatscreen!Definitely recommend this item!Note: most modern heating systems have a permissive switch in the door frame where the wiring is, and will not work with the door off! Never mind how I know this or how long it took me to find it!

El termostato es bastante robusto en términos de instalación y calidad. Pero es muy amigable de operar desde un móvil, computadora o bien desde el mismo equipo (manual).Lo que me encanta es que lo puedo controlar desde mi celular y ni siquiera tengo que estar en la casa. Puedo prenderlo, apagarlo, ajustar temperatura y programar un itinerario a control remoto.
