It DOES receive 5ghz so that made it 5-10 times faster than if it only received 2.4ghz
I bought this repeater to install on the outside of the small cottage in my back yard — I wanted to extend wifi into the yard to power some Ring security cameras. I tested two repeaters and the thing I found out was that this unit DOES receive 5ghz– the other one did not. When I performed a speed test on my 5ghz wifi network it is 5-10 times faster than the 2.4ghz network. So this repeater in turn was also 5-10 times faster than the other one.

Improved coverage immediately
The WiFi extender has improved the signal in our home. We were having 2 separate WiFi for up stairs and downstairs. We were paying for two different internet services. Now that we have this and it distributes a strong signal everywhere now. We will be disconnecting the WiFi up stairs and using this extender. The set up for this was extremely easy too.

Excellent product.
I am very happy with this AOOEPU WiFi extender. The installation was very fast, only with a touch was everything set up. Since I use it, the signal reaches all rooms strong and stable, even in areas where there was no coverage before.It works very well in both bands (2.4G and 5.8G) and you can see the difference in connection speed. I also like that it allows you to connect multiple devices without losing the signal.I totally recommend it to improve home coverage.

Best choice
This WiFi extender works perfectly! The setup was super easy and only took a few minutes. My signal used to drop in the bedroom and garage, but now the connection is fast and stable everywhere. The speed is almost the same as being next to the router. Great product for the price — highly recommend!

False advertising
I really regret buying this extender. Without it, my internet speed stays above 100 Mbps, but as soon as I connect through this device, the speed drops to 10 Mbps or less. I mainly bought it for a stable wired connection, but even on Ethernet it only gives me around 10–15 Mbps, which makes it useless for my setup. I tested it multiple times, reset it, and followed all the instructions, but the performance never improved. For me, this product absolutely did not deliver what it advertised, and I ended up uninstalling it.No idea how they got so many positive reviews

Useful extender. I have one WiFi modem from att. They told me their modem can cover the whole house but it didn’t. I got this extender so all of my room have stable and reliable fast WiFi. Enjoying it.
